WHAT IS IN A NAME?

I wonder who has the job of coming up with all these names? Maybe they should start butching things up a bit. There seems to be a lot of more feminine-sounding wool names out there like Fluffy, Angel and Bella etc. Maybe wool producers could do a Coca Cola and rebrand some of their wool to be more marketable to men. Like Coke Zero which is just a rebranded version of Diet Coke - which is drunk predominantly by women. The question is: would more butch-sounding wool brand names get more men onboard to knit? Maybe not; but it all starts with a name. 

HAPPY WOOL

This Monday I went to see my publisher in Gamla Stan in Stockholm and on my way there I ran past the most amazing shop - Happy Colors. They have some awesome wool in... you guessed it: a multitude of colours! 

What I should really be doing is warning you to keep away from the place so you don't have to declare bankruptcy after walking out of the shop. But that is not how I roll. I dare you to go inside without buying anything!

Next question is what I should make with all this cool stuff. 

CLEAN OUT

I had a small spring cleaning session yesterday and went through my stash. I don't think I need to buy any more wool....ever. Still, not as bad as my grandmother - she had a small outhouse, which is probably as big as my room - full of.... that's right: wool. 

On a positive note I have finished all the projects for the book which means I've only got to get it designed and ready for print. 

Proud of my oven pancake - a little bit like toad in the hole without the sausages - and meant to be eaten with lingonberry jam.

Shopping

Have been shopping in two great shops last month. The first was Darn it and Stitch Oxford's new and only haberdashery where I found the spangle tie, name tapes, and tape measure. The second was Masons which is like Aladdin's cave full of wool and textiles. Love the ethical twist wool which I got from them. 

Now I have to find an occasion for wearing the spangle tie.

The two lovely boxes are my charity shop bargain. Proper cotton wool from the 60s in its original box. Many thanks to Helen and Douglas House in Oxford who are rummaging through peoples houses for unused wool.
