XMAS CAME EARLY

Christmas came early this year for me. Just like Santa my lovely Dutch publisher Librero sent me a parcel with a few copies of the Dutch version of Crochet for Men. I'm so happy. I can't understand a word and at the same time I can...as it was me who wrote the book.

CRAFTY COLUMN

I was asked by the Swedish magazine HEMSLÖJD to contribute an article about my crocheting and what it means to me. I hope that people like the column. It is such a lovely magazine that I couldn't resist giving you a quick digital browse.  

IN THE CLOUDS

That is where my head seems to be most of the time. In the clouds. At the moment I'm dreaming up another book but there are other things I need to do first. I need to dream up a talk....

I am flying over to Sweden at the beginning of September to speak at the NORDIC MUSEUM KNIT CAFE in Stockholm. I will probably bore the audience silly talking about manliness and why knitting and crocheting is predominantly seen as a feminine craft. Hopefully I will be able to use some examples from the Nordic Museeum's collection. You can check out their FLICKR PAGE if you want to find out more about them.

ROYAL WELCOME

There is a lot of jubilee-ing going around here in England as the Queen is celebrating her Diamond Jubilee. I have never seen so much bunting in my life. Keeping to the theme I'm showing you this cool reusable gift wrap. It is not made of paper but fabric - a la Japan - so can be used more than once. Problem is that it is too nice to give away.

I started writing this book because I personally couldn't find any fun projects for guys to do. THIS MORNING

This morning I was crocheting my socks of on Sweden's Channel 4's breakfast show. I crocheted some skulls from the book, and some vintage-looking chicks to use as Easter decorations. I must admit that it was a bit difficult to concentrate on the crocheting when standing next to one of Sweden's top pastry chefs...Mmh all those cakes!

DANCING WITH MYSELF

These pictures didn't make it into the book but I love them. The ankle socks are for the sportier guy, who, like me isn't afraid to dance with themselves. ---> Dancing With Myself

YARR, LOOKIT ME BOOK

I got a nice package in the post this Saturday from my publisher. As you can see it was my first copy of my book fresh off the press. It's funny to see it in print after so many months staring at it on the screen. I promise to show you more nearer the release date in April - until then I hope you like the cover and Black Beard.

VIRKAT FÖR MÄN

I hope you like the cover. I have been working hard on it so that the book will really stand out.  

I am deceiving you a bit because the book hasn't been printed yet - it's my publisher who has created this 3D image for their spring catalogue. It's on page 18.

I am off now to do the final corrections.

MR MODEL NR 2

The article I wrote for the Swedish Bookseller is now up on their website. Don't really know why they have chosen to have my portrait so big but hey I am not complaining.

I was running around London this monday with my friend Iain. He was kind to model one of the hats that is going into the book. 

My book Virkat för män (Crochet for men) was mentioned on the Swedish bookseller magazine as an "unusual" title to look out for this spring. Unusual is just another way of saying odd.  

BUNTING

Last sunday was a bunting day it seems. I ran down to a friend's house in Iffley village (it's a part of Oxford if you are not from here) to take some last minute snapshots for the book. Hurray. Most of it has been done - still got two chapters to design - but I can see the end now and I'm getting very excited.

I fell in love with my friend's shelf which won't make its way into the book and neither will the horse that stood and neighed at me as I was walking down the street.
