HOLDING A CROCHET HOOK

There are two main ways you can hold the crochet needle. The first is to hold the needle as if you were holding a handlebar - gripping it with your whole hand - and the other as if you were holding a pencil. Try to crochet both ways and see which way suits you best. I have always held the hook like a pencil as it gives you the most effective way of crocheting as you minimize the amount you have to move your wrist.
